Coconut
There’s an orange sock on your hand
And you’re talking to it
But look what you’ve done
Daddy is quacking to himself
Crying gas fires and flowers
And I’m a punk now, embroidering cakes
I saw this guy in a plaid shirt
And suddenly I got ‘plaid envy’
Apparently lemons wear trousers now
I’m laughing a bi (It’s fine)
I just saw a squirrel in a motorbike helmet
Smoking a cigarette on the window sill
But behind all the green
Is a snake in skinny jeans
And the great chains of the days
I saw you break dancing alone
In the school gym once
A grey cloud hung above your head
And heading home later
You were convinced
You heard a coconut crying
Depression (ii)
Sleeping on a Wednesday like a big turtle
Is not like I imagined at all
The slow hours passing outside
I noticed that my hands are
The same as Wolverine’s (hairy and orange)
I watched a horrible pink spider
Devour a banana in ten seconds
Lemony clouds passed over the hill
I felt as bored as water
I was trying to discover how
Mummy got trapped inside a fairy
And how that was really, really sad
Wolverine went past in a wheelchair
Lemon coloured clouds passed
I was as bored as water
A bumble bee was screaming
And crying about wanting
Wolverine was crying in a mirror
He saw that nothing was possible
And his head seemed to be melting
Like a block of butter
